1 Christmas in the USA

2 Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25th by millions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night.

3 Christmas Traditions Movies.
Americans loves to watch TV on Christmas. Their favourite movies is: ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’, ‘It’ s a wonderful life’, ‘The Christmas Story’, ‘Home Alone’, ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas’, ‘Elf and A Miracle’.

4 The Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is usually one of the first decorative signs that the Christmas holiday season has arrived.

5 The famous Rockefeller Centre Christmas Tree in New York City.

6 Candy canes. Candy canes date back as far as 1670, in Cologne, Germany. The most popular accounts is that a choirmaster who wished to quite the children in is church, Cologne Cathedral, during their yearly Living Chreche tradition each Christmas Eve.

Sending and receiving Christmas cards is a great way to communicate with friends and loved ones who live far away that you are thinking of them and hoping for their best during the Christmas holiday season. Within the United States of America, there are more than two billion Christmas cards are exchanged annually.

9 Since Christmas Eve is not an official federal holiday, most people have to work. However, it is a partial day off or a full day off in some states. Many workplaces hold Christmas parties or celebrations, so there is a celebratory air to the day. People who work in the retail or catering sectors often have to work very hard to meet consumer demands on December 24. Many people in the United States decorate their homes and driveways with seasonal decorations, although some do this much earlier, starting just after Thanksgiving Day in late November. The centerpiece of the decorations is often a Christmas tree decorated with fairy lights, tinsel, angels, stars and other seasonal ornaments.

In the United States: roast turkey (or other poultry), beef, ham or pork; stuffing (or 'dressing'), squash, roasted root vegetables, brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes are common. Common desserts include pumpkin pie, plum pudding or Christmas pudding, trifle, marzipan, sugar cookies, ffruitcake, apple pie, Gooseberry Pie, carrot cake, and mince pies. In the South coconut cake, pecan pie, and sweet potato pie are also common.
